HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Established in 1984, The Assembly of God Church School, Purulia, is a distinguished English-medium co-educational institution committed to academic excellence, character formation, and holistic development. Situated on a spacious and historic campus, the school provides a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.

The roots of the institution reach far deeper than its founding year. The school stands on land associated with the historic Door of Hope orphanage. The work of pioneers such as Fanny Amelia Simpson, Maynard and Gladys Ketcham, and Esther Olson brought hope, care, and educational opportunities to many children in Purulia. Their spirit of service continues to inspire the values and mission of the school.

The Assembly of God Church School, Purulia, was founded as part of the wider educational vision of Dr. Mark Buntain and Dr. Huldah Buntain. With the guidance of dedicated educational leaders such as Dr. Ronald Shaw, the school began its journey with humble beginnings, a small group of students and staff, and a strong faith in the power of education to transform lives.

Over the past four decades, the school has grown into a vibrant CBSE Senior Secondary institution. Modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and cultural activities provide students with opportunities to learn, explore, and excel. Along with academic achievement, the school places great emphasis on leadership, creativity, service, and sportsmanship through a rich variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Our motto, “My Utmost for His Highest,” reflects our commitment to pursuing excellence with integrity, dedication, and faith. As we build on a rich legacy of more than forty years, we remain dedicated to helping every student discover their potential, develop strong values, and prepare for a meaningful future.
